About the team

More than a team. A family.

Founded in 2022 by Reggie and Andy Anderson, Owasso Fishing is a nonprofit, volunteer-run team for anglers in grades 6 through 12. Two anglers and an adult boat captain per boat, competing on the Oklahoma High School Fishing trail for points, trophies, and a shot at the SAF National Championship.

No experience required. If you can hold a rod and get up before the sun, we can teach you the rest.

• Who can join the Owasso Fishing Team?

  Students in grades 6–12. At least one angler on each two-person team should be enrolled in Owasso Public Schools, so a partner from another school is fine. You don't need tournament experience — we'll teach you. Grades 9–12 fish the OKHSF High School Division; 8th grade and below fish the Junior Division (and one 7th or 8th grader may fish on a high school team).

• Do I need my own boat?

  No. Every team fishes with an adult boat captain (19 or older) who provides the boat. Many of our captains are parents. If your family has a boat (16 ft or longer with a working livewell) and would like to captain, we'd love to have you — captains are always the team's biggest need.

• What does it cost?

  Team registration is $100 per angler ($50 for returning anglers) and includes the official jersey and hat. OKHSF membership is $75 and SAF membership is $25. The club currently covers entry fees for Northern Trail tournaments. Fuel for the boat captain is typically split by the two anglers' families. Sponsors and fundraisers keep it there — talk to a coach if cost is a barrier.
